La Hacienda Creative, led by award-winning Composer and Sound Designer, Brian D’Oliveira, is a forward-thinking audio studio specializing in music composition, sound design and post-production.

With over eight years of experience in the entertainment and interactive media industry, La Hacienda specializes in creative collaborations with groundbreaking visual creators in film, television and video games.

 

Brian D'Oliveira

CEO & Creative Director

Starting from a childhood obsession with music and sound, Brian D’Oliveira’s passion for composing and sound design has led to a career spanning over hundreds of productions. Encompassing TV series, documentaries, commercials, films, and video games. Highly versatile in composing as a multi-instrumentalist and sound designer, Brian is known and sought after for his ability to create unique ‘one of kind’ interactive soundtracks.

Tom Mullins

Toronto Studio Manager

Tom completed his Honours B.A in Philosophy with a second Major in Political Studies.  After hearing the question “what are you going to do with that?” for the thousandth time, he decided to pursue a get-rich-quick career in music, which he had always secretly been pursuing anyways. Touring South Korea and Canada as a musician, Tom also has experience in post-production and sound engineering. He has been a part of the construction of 3 recording studios, including La Hacienda’s Montréal Foley room and Toronto studio.

Ted Onyszczak

Head Engineer

Ted is a veteran mix engineer whose credits include productions for Associated Producers, Simka Jacobovitch, Paul Jay, and Tricon Productions. He is also an accomplished Foley recording engineer, Sound FX designer, ADR recordist, music mixer and producer.

Vovô

Musician/Composer

Coming from a family of musicians in Salvador-Bahia (Brazil), Vovô is a master percussionist and teacher with a professional career spanning over 40 years. As our de-facto in house expert, he has significantly contributed to critically acclaimed projects such as Papo & Yo and ‘Amerikologie’. Also a world-renowned performer, he has toured extensively with artists and groups such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Luck Mervil, and the Cirque du Soleil.

Kenny Young

Composer, Sound Designer, Audio Director

Based over in London in the UK, Kenny is one of the most respected audio professionals working in interactive entertainment, being the brains behind the much celebrated audio experiences in Media Molecule’s smash hit LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway franchises. A multi-award winning writer, Kenny is one of the game audio community’s most passionate and committed advocates, sits on the GDC audio advisory board, is a GANG IESD co-chair, has been a BAFTA, IGF and GDC awards juror, and speaks regularly at conferences and higher education institutions around the world.

Elinor Frey

Musician & Composer

Fascinated with the cello’s origins and the creative process of new music, Elinor Frey plays both period and modern instruments. Her debut album, Dialoghi, is titled for the solo piece written for her by Steven Stucky. Her recent release on the Belgian label Passacaille, Berlin Sonatas with Lorenzo Ghielmi on fortepiano, was nominated for a Juno award for Best Classical CD, Solo & Chamber Music and won the 2015 Québec Opus Prize for Early Music CD of the year. Frey holds degrees from McGill, Mannes, and Juilliard.

Maxime Hervé

Composer

Maxime is a promising young composer from France who holds a Master’s degree in Film Music.  Maxime recently worked as an assistant to Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) in Los Angeles and as part of the creation and production of the film score for the movie “Transcendence”. Fascinated by all musical styles, Maxime specializes in electronic and orchestral music.

Michael Vickerage

Composer

Out of the UK, and since the mid-‘90’s, Vickerage worked on major Emmy & BAFTA award winning and nominated productions (he himself nominated three times).  Ranging from writing for all the major domestic channels to scoring for US productions, some of these programmes demanded Hollywood-style soundtracks, with large orchestral resources.  He has also worked with many of the top music production libraries, such as: EMI, Sonoton, Universal, Focus Music, Stock, Dennis, etc.

Brigitte Briga Dajczer

Composer & Studio Musician

Brigitte Dajczer aka Briga was recently awarded the 2013 Galaxie Rising Star Award and has been nominated several times from the Canadian JUNOs Canadian Folk Music Awards and Quebec’s ADISQ awards for her work with such artists as: Gitans de Sarajevo, Geoff Berner, and Half Moon Run. She performs as a violinist, has recorded on film soundtracks and has appeared on album recordings as a sideman or  soloist for Kris Demeanor, Michael Abikhzer et L’OSAM, Amanda Mabro, Rembetika Hipsters, Mimoza, and many more… As a composer she has won prizes for Best Music  from the Love Unlimited Film Festival and the Stepping Stone Film Festival.

 

Ons Barnat

Ethnomusicologist and Composer

Ons Barnat is an ethnomusicologist, composer, arranger and music teacher.  His doctoral dissertation dealt with the studio recording of the Garifuna paranda music in Central America (Belize, Guatemala and Honduras).

Under the Mitacs Elevate Program, he started a Postdoctorate Fellowship at Laval University’s LARC lab, developing at La Hacienda Creative a Music Legacy Project that aims to collect Musical Performances of the World in 3D Omni-Binaural Sound and 360° Video.

Alex Beaulieu

VP Business Affairs

Alex joined La Hacienda as VP of Business Affairs and brings to the team a wealth of music industry experience and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.  He was recruited by Evenko to become Co-founder and Director of Atlas Artists – a division of the company devoted to artist management and music producing.  Prior to that he ran his own company as a talent manager and producer for bands over the span of nearly a decade.  Alex’s career success is based upon creating the right business environment for creativity to flourish and he hopes to use this know-how to bring La Hacienda to the next level.

Luisa Valencia

VR Post-Production

Ever curious, this videographer is always exploring the narrative boundaries of visual art and new technologies.  For almost 10 years Luisa has focused her career on audiovisual expression, documentary making, script writing and dramatic construction moving seamlessly between the various roles of videographer, filmmaker, and editor.

Carol Ribero

Videographer

Graduate in Communication with an emphasis in advertising and marketing back in Brazil, Carol has over 10 years of experience in Television Industry working mostly as a video editor, freelancer producer, and video director. In Canada 2010, she graduates in Fashion Design to combine her passion for visual arts, music, fashion and media. Currently, Carol is now experiencing as a videographer in new formats such as 360 video and virtual reality.

Diego Las Heras

Composer

Diego Las Heras is a composer/producer based in Toronto, Canada. He holds an Arranging & Composition degree (Escuela Moderna de Música, Chile) and a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies (Humber College, Canada). As Music Producer, he has worked in projects for artists such as Nelly Furtado, Grammy Nominee Alex Cuba, Juno Award Winner Q Benjamin, Calypso Legend David Rudder, Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila, and National Jazz Award Winner Eliana Cuevas.

JoDee Allen

Grants & Project Management

JoDee recently graduated with a master’s degree from Concordia University researching social game play, popular dance and dance notation video games as well as the philosophical problems of gamifying movement.  Parallel to this examination she developed a methodological approach to designing control schemes that employ gesture recognition.  JoDee also  works for MERJ Media as a motion control-scheme designer on a mobile Breakdance game called Floor Kids.

Ramon Muzones

Assistant Sound Engineer

Ramon has worked at La Hacienda for over two years as a sound engineer, he also is adept at playing piano and his greatest musical inspiration is the work of composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Adamantia Klonaris

Assistant Sound Engineer

Out of Greece, Adamantia completed her studies in Sound Engineering in SAE Athens. She has diplomas in Audio Engineering, Advance Audio Production and a BA Degree in Recording Arts. She moved to Canada to accomplish her dreams by building a career in the Audio Industry. Adamantia is a passionate learner and curious Field Recording and Sound Design Explorer.
